'We Dance!' is our current project. We are very excited to have received funding from The National Lottery Community Fund to run this project. So what are we doing? Well firstly we've bought a maypole! We have now started running sessions in Hunstanton Primary for children and in the community for adults - if you're local come and get involved!
The project is celebrating cultures and traditions through the arts. Starting with traditional Maypole and folk music, we are then going on to explore the dances, music and traditions that other cultures bring. Who knows where this will lead us over the next few weeks as we begin to develop a piece for performance at Hunstanton's annual Blossom Day event on 4th May ...come along and see for yourselves!
This week our groups came together for a holiday rehearsal. Primary students meets the adult community group to share some moves. Here is Abby leading a little bit of intergenerational dance conversation!
We were lucky to have Maja join us this week to share with the Yr 5's about the traditions of her home country Slovakia. She spoke of the traditional food, dress, customs and we even learnt a little bit of traditional Slovakian dance to add to our maypole dancing!
